THE WORLD’S SMOKING CAPITAL IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK

Mauritania has long been part of the trade route between North and sub-Saharan Africa, where tobacco was a precious commodity.
News flash: Smoking is bad for you. Wait, you knew that? Nevertheless, cigarettes continue to have a certain worldwide appeal among rebellious teenagers in Sydney and white-haired Parisian bohemians alike. But you won’t find the world’s heaviest smokers in a café full of existentialists.

Mauritania has the world’s highest rate of tobacco consumption — an average of 41 cigarettes a day.

That’s according to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. And yes, that’s enough smoke to make smog experts in Los Angeles and Beijing cringe. This Muslim West African country has long been part of the trade route between North and sub-Saharan Africa, where tobacco was a precious commodity and even used as currency for trade. But its residents’ smoking habit fits into a new trend. While Western nations are quitting the cigs, developing nations are picking up the habit. According to a Lancet study, the continent’s rate of smoking is still only 14 percent (pretty low compared with America’s 23 percent), but its growth is the highest in the world.
Why are developing nations lighting up? Prabhat Jha, professor of epidemiology at the University of Toronto, says the tobacco industry uses the lack of tobacco control — from advertising bans to warning labels — in places like Mauritania to push cigarettes as a symbol of “Westernization” or “being modern.”
Rising smoking rates is bad news for countries with already weak national health systems. Ahmed E. Ogwell Ouma, head of the World Health Organization’s Tobacco Control program in Africa, calls Mauritania’s growing number of smokers “very worrisome.” According to Ouma, the rates of lung cancer in Mauritania are rising fast. Women are particularly vulnerable; instead of smoking, they chew the tobacco, which has caused an increase of cancers of the mouth almost exclusively in females.
But the Mauritanian government is determined to curb this deadly habit. For starters, the president recently announced a significant raise on tobacco taxes — 7.5 percent of the current price. The money collected through this tax (the second of its type on the continent, after Botswana) will be exclusively used to fund smoke-related public services, from secessionprograms to a newly created state-of-the-art cancer ward.
Mauritania is also considering a tobacco control bill. The text includes a variety of methods for reducing the number of smokers, including setting a sell ban for minors (while it’s not customary for children to smoke, it is not illegal), a ban on smoking in public places and advertisement. The bill will be debated in Parliament soon and could become law by the end of the year. (Mauritania’s Ministry of Health did not respond to request for comment.)
Still, some experts think focusing on dissuasion programs is not enough. “Education does not work well,” notes Jha. “Tell children and young adults … to not smoke and they will do the opposite.” In his opinion, developing countries need to stand up to the international tobacco lobbies and raise taxes even more. For now, though, smokers of the world have a new mecca: Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania. It should be pretty easy to find — just follow the smoke.

MY WROTH

MY WROTH
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison my destiny

Those who seek to destroy me in my time of weakness
Those who fail to relinquish the hate stored against me
And at my time of utmost power I will destroy whosoever had once tried to enslave me
Those who cut me short and off
Those who broke me
Those who stole what i saved all my life

My rage shall never be abated
My wroth shall flow down upon thee; destroying every part of thine existence
Like fire set to the wild
Like brimstone i shall fall upon thee and wash thee out like evil!

THE PLACE WHERE RATS ARE KING

Pet Love: A global look at cozy relationships between people and animals.
New Yorkers have a love-hate relationship with rats. Pizza Rat — the one seen hustling down a flight of stairs with a fine-looking slice in a video that has racked up more than 8.35 million YouTube views — inspired countless Halloween costumes. That said, almost no New Yorker would intentionally hang out with a real one. If that appeals, we’ve got a destination for you.

In India, 20,000 rats live in the Karni Mata, a Hindu temple.

This temple is no joke. People from all over India make pilgrimages to pay their respects to the revered black rats. If you’re a die-hard Amazing Race fan, you might have heard of it — it was featured on the show’s very first episode way back when. The Temple of Rats was built in the early 1900s and, with its touches of silver and marble, is a far cry from Manhattan’s sewers and subway tracks. There are even golden rat statues — that’s the price you have to pay for killing one of the temple’s tiny inhabitants. According to Pankaj Jain, a professor at the University of North Texas who holds a Ph.D. in Hinduism, this is a way to remind people that hurting any being is “like hurting yourself.”

Visitors hope to get up close and personal with the rats, known as kabbas, or children. Don’t worry if they nibble on your food or scamper over your bare feet (no shoes allowed), which in unenlightened NYC is the cue for “start screaming.” Here it’s a good omen! Luckily, the temple has never had any outbreaks of diseases, like the plague, which is still a thing. Varun Soni, the dean of religious life at the University of Southern California, says rats are considered a symbol of prosperity. Also, these critters are believed to be the reincarnation of Karni Mata, the Goddess of Rats. One version of the story goes that a relative of Mata’s was drowning. Mata begged the God of Death to save the boy, but it was too late. Mata reincarnated him and her future descendants as rats so they could live on.
This temple isn’t as wild as it might seem to outsiders. Linda Hess, a senior lecturer on Hinduism at Stanford, says it should be viewed within the wider context of Hinduism. She worries that “it’s so weird that people might think these people are strange and wonder what the hell is going on.” Hindu literature has an “unstoppable wealth of stories and deities and mythology,” she says, and rats are just one of many. Jain adds that Americans love dogs and cats, and for Hindus, rats are no different.
So if you’re thinking, why rats? The real question should be, why not rats? If you get reincarnated, you just might come back as one.

Meek Mill rants againts 'cyber bullies'

Meek Mill rants againts 'cyber bullies'

Meek Mill took to instagram today to rant against those he says are cyber bullies after fans blasted him for taking a jab at Future and his diss with Drake on a post where he was paying tribute to his late friend, Dex. See the rest of what he wrote after the cut...

It just shows that them type of people don't get no love in real life and will say anything for attention! This social media changing the game and the suckas are winning! Jayz once told me this social media world was created for people that wouldn't even speak if they wasn't present .... For people that was scared to approach a male/female and hold a conversation if they wanted to a number or ask to go on a date! He also said you can't speak truth on here because this is the fake people world and they gone hate you for that ...People are in love with this lifestyle more than people! Nothing has value anymore because people can pretend so easy in this new world! And the only people that's gone make negative comments are the ones who feel like this post is directed to them! If the shoe fits wear it sucka! #realigion it's sad that the next generation have to grow up in middle of this era! Even when I look at the news .... I have nothing against Donald trump but from my knowledge I only know him for making a lot of money..... And now I see him running for president and really having a impact that is strong... At first I thought it was a joke.. But in this new world anything goes!

Meet Manchester Utd's 19 year old most expensive footballer

Meet Manchester Utd's 19 year old most expensive footballer

Manchester United's splashed out a whopping £3 6million to snare French footballer 19 year old Anthony Martial, from the Ligue 1 outfit.
However, United fans don't need to worry about the teenage sensation going off the rails - he is married father-of-one who prefers a homecooked meal than painting the town red.

The French teenager looks to be on to a winner with his partner, Samantha, if these snaps of the newest United WAG on the block are anything to go by.

Martial, who will wear the No.9 shirt at Old Trafford, got hitched with his childhood sweetheart and they have a daughter together named Toto.

The world's most-expensive teenager has vowed to get his head down and prove his worth to United fans after his mega-money move to England.
He said:"I'm very proud. I worked hard for this and my family is very happy about it.
"I've always wanted to play in the Premier League and look forward to meeting my team-mates"
"I don't feel the pressure. I know there is pressure but I'm ready for it. I'm very happy because it's a big club in England.
"It's not easy to speak about myself but I am a very fast player. I spoke with the coach and I know that I need to work very hard.
"I hope that everything will go well for me at this club. I'm very happy because the supporters are great here. I will be ready when the time comes."
A source close to Martial said he was serious about his football and is no party animal.
"Anthony now carries the glamorous title of being the most expensive teenager in world football, but his life is just the opposite," a source told The Sun.
"He loves staying in and being with his family. It doesn't look like he'll be raising hell once he moves to Manchester."
Anthony said:
"After training, I like to come home and find my wife. I am very homely."
Hi wife Samantha is looking forward to the move to the Premier League. She posted a picture of Martial with his new Manchester United shirt with the message:
"A new life begins in England ... we will never forget Monaco ... thank you all for your support."

51 year old woman acting as surrogate gives birth to her Grand daughter

51 year old woman acting as surrogate gives birth to her Grand daughter

A 51-year-old mother with multiple sclerosis gave birth to her own granddaughter in North Dakota, acting as a surrogate for her daughter.
The pregnancy came with an unexpected and welcome side effect.Mandy Stephens and her husband Jamie couldn’t wait to get pregnant after marrying in 2013, but they had trouble conceiving and opted for in vitro fertilization.
Stephens became pregnant, and the 20-week ultrasound looked perfect. But she subsequently went into early labor and lost the baby, which she named Theo.
“There’s so much excitement,” Stephens, 32, said. “You carry the baby for so long, and then it’s all ripped apart and taken away. Your whole world stops.”
Mandy’s mom, Sherri Dickson, felt the pain, too.
“Watching your child lose a child is the definition of sadness,” Dickson said. “I can’t describe it any other way. It breaks your heart.”
Because Stephens’ cervix opened early, doctors warned the couple that a premature birth could happen again, though there is a procedure that may allow women with cervical insufficiency to carry their own baby.
The couple considered different options. Adoption? A surrogate?

That’s when her mother stepped in.
“I decided that if they needed somebody to carry their child, I would volunteer,” Dickson said.
The decision was easy for Dickson, who, at 51, had three grown children of her own. But there could be complications because of her age and diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, an autoimmune disease that attacks the central nervous system.
“The disabling effects of the disease may make it physically difficult for the mother to carry a pregnancy,” according to Johns Hopkins Medicine. “Muscle weakness and coordination problems may increase the likelihood for falls.”
But the situation also came with a potential health benefit for Dickson, whose MS was in remission: Becoming pregnant might help keep it that way.

Researchers think that protective changes in the immune system during pregnancy keep the disease at bay.

Two attempts were made with in vitro fertilization, and by November of last year, Dickson was pregnant with her daughter and son-in-law’s baby.
“Pregnancy was easy,” Dickson said. “I was very fortunate … I was playing tennis a week before I delivered, and working out with my trainer, but the delivery at 51 was way harder than the delivery at 33 with my last baby.”
Their bundle of joy was born four weeks ago.
“It’s indescribable,” Dickson said. “There are times I look at … [the baby] and say, ‘We did that, you know?’ We gave her what she wants. Not that you ever make up for a baby you lost but you give someone that hope, you know?”

Man confesses to raping his daughter only 6 times

Man confesses to raping his daughter only 6 times

On Wednesday, 34-year-old factory worker, Mohammed Ahmed confessed that he has raped his daughter ONLY 6 times. (Only??)
Ahmed, who was paraded by officials of the Osun State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps said he started having sex with his 14-year-old daughter in April, 2015.

Ahmed said:
“I have two wives. The first had left and she gave birth to three children. The second wife gave birth to two children before she died.
“This one is the first child of my first wife. I don’t know what came over me in April when I started having sex with my daughter. I had sex with her only six times since April 2015.”
The Head, Public Relations and Protocol Unit of the NSCDC, Mr. Wale Folarin, said the command was alerted to the man’s act by one of his neighbours.
Folarin said:
“The incident was reported to us by a neighbour, who said he used to hear the cry of the girl every night.  When confronted, the girl admitted that her father had been raping her.”

Drake destroys Meek Mill with surprise 'Back to Back' diss

Meek Mill and Drake’s rap war goes to new heights with the early morning release of “Back to Back.”

Meek Mill may have bitten off a little more than he can chew by waging war against Drake.
The Toronto-born rapper has become the target of speculation this week, accused of hiring a ghostwriter to pen his verse for their "R.I.C.O." collaboration, off Mill's latest album, "Dreams Worth More Than Money."
"Stop comparing drake to me too… He don't write his own raps! That's why he ain't tweet my album because we all found out!" Mill, born Robert Rahmeek Williams, tweeted on July 21.
The alleged ghostwriter, Quentin Miller, for his part, denied ever writing Drake's lyrics with an open letter shared via Tumblr.
"I am not and never will be a 'ghostwriter' for drake. I'm proud to say that we've collaborated… but I could never take credit for anything other than the few songs we worked on together," Miller wrote.
Mill, who is currently dating and sharing a stage with Nicki Minaj on tour, apologized to Minaj for the outburst, but for the leader of the OVO Sound, it was too little, too late.
After a few days of silence, Drake fired off a heated response via a track called"Charged Up."
The lyrics, "No woman ever had me star struck, or was able to tell me to get my bars up, I'm charged up," took aim at the Philadelphia-born rapper.
Just when the beef appeared to be cooling off, Drake took more shots at Mill with another record, "Back to Back."
The spirit-crushing bars include, 'Yeah, trigger fingers turn to Twitter fingers, You getting bodied by a singing n---a.'
Drake also referenced Mill's role as an opening act for The Pinkprint Tour: "You love her then you gotta give the world to her, Is that a world tour or your girl's tour."
The final nail in the coffin was a bank statement comparison between Mill and Minaj. "Shout out to all my boss b-tches wife-ing n---as, Make sure you hit him with the prenup, Then tell that man to ease up."
The track’s cover art is another apparent diss: a photo of Joe Carter of the Torontos Blue Jays' win against the Philadelphia Phillies in the 1993 World Series.
The surprise track was released at 4:29 a.m., and hip hop music fans have clearly chosen to side with Drake.

SOMEDAY

SOMEDAY
--------------
I do not seek to pun the mind
But pour the mind some mere words
Of a world filled with things unmade things unsaid
But this they say
How long can you hold pain
How much do you wanna get paid
How much do you think you knw
But thats that
Everyday we facing a day racing
Every Time over time  we hearing of people who are racist
But is you who's gat everything better than me who's gat nothing  !
The world echoes !! Yes yes!
But to me I say no
Everyday I wake up to the hope for just a meal
Walk so many miles for just a lil dough
Though I'm not bothered but indeed I'm pained
But I still have to pay some bills
So please I got to work!
You wake up in the morning
to bread cheese and sausage
I heard they call it breakfast in bed with a jug of de juice you like
Black phantom; and the plate with ur name standby
The day I confess u better than me
Would be the day I self-destruct
So I instruct myself!
Someday imma be
the Don of a new dawn
The son of an unknown man
But the fame ild bring down
They all gonna call me a new man!

An Open Letter To The Girl Who Let The Nice Guy Go

Dear Girl Who Walked Away,

It’s not like you weren’t aware of what you were getting yourself into. He told you he was nice. He trusted easily and gave you all he could when he could.
The nice guy believes in doing things right. He was there when you needed him to be, and he went out of his way to make sure you knew just how much you could mean to someone.
We live in a generation where we all have to wear masks and play parts to make it through the battlefield of dating in the 21st century. There is no such thing as giving it your all.
We like quotes on Facebook and post things on Instagram stating we want the masochist one day and the romantic the next. We play these games where being available can only happen sometimes, and playing hard-to-get must be our number one priority. Why?
I thought the ultimate goal was to eventually settle down. I mean, what is the point of dating if you have no desire for it to go anywhere? If a one-night stand is what you’re looking for, leave the good guys alone and toy within the levels you lay down.
Save yourself time and energy because the good guy isn’t going to make it easy to just walk away. The good guy cares, so he’ll get his explanation from you even though he knows it’ll be a load of bull.
Every girl says she likes the assh*le because he’s the challenge — the one she must break, train and force to be more than just a douchebag. Have you ever thought, however, maybe you were the girl in need of learning what it means to actually feel again?
You went through something, like we all do, and because of it you changed. It’s normal and heartbreak happens, but the next assh*le didn’t fix what the first one did; he kept it the same or made it worse. His priority was not you and couldn’t be you. So now you’re bitter and closed off from anything remotely more satisfying than a one-night stand.
I won’t deny that the assh*le is fun or that a good time isn’t promised with him, but when it’s all said and done, is it ever more than just a good time? Probably not.
In fact, the assh*le has a charm about him; it’s the charm you justify your pursuit with. You say, “There’s just something about him.” However, it’s probably the same quality that ended up hurting you in the past.
So you tried to push the nice guy away. When he wouldn’t go away, you pushed harder. Still, he didn’t give up and every time you pushed harder, he pulled you in even more.
He ignored your fears and forced you to grow; he fought for your passions when you were too busy writing them off. He forgot your wants and focused on everything you needed. Then you walked away because he was too nice.
He gave you too much of everything you wanted, and life got too easy. You wanted conflict and hardship as if everything else in life did not promise you an endless journey of just that. This is where you failed.
The nice guy has been hurt, too, he just chose to stay nice. He learned that different people were going to provide him different things in life. The nice guy also chose not to let any of it change who he was.
So, he let you walk away and he called it a day. Everyone always says there are plenty of fish in the sea, and he let you go knowing this, even though it hurt.
What you don’t know is that someone else is out there, and she won’t be as foolish you. When you realize all you really want is the nice guy who cares about you too much, it’s going to be too late. Some other girl will be able to see how great he is, and she won’t waste a minute.
So you lost your Ted Mosby and, I promise, to him you were Robin. The nice guys are there to give you a break, a light to something more than the games we identify our generation with.
He may have loved you too soon and it was too crazy and too much, but guys like Mosby don’t happen every day; they happen never. He got you the blue French horn, and he made you feel love when love was no longer a part of your vocabulary. You were now saying “I love you” again and remembering what it felt like.
He was the guy you were supposed to end up with, who makes everything change. I just wish you’d see it before another girl does because at the end of the day, everyone, including the nice guy you don’t deserve, is rooting only for you.
Sincerely, The Girl Who Was Too Late

Robin Thicke, Pharrell ordered to pay Marvin Gaye's family $7.4m for Blurred Lines

Robin Thicke, Pharrell ordered to pay Marvin Gaye's family $7.4m for Blurred Lines

Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke made $16.5million from their 2013 smash hit single, Blurred Lines, but a court has ordered them to give $7.4 million of that money to Marvin Gaye's family

The court determined  yesterday March 10th that the singers copied elements of Marvin Gaye's "Got to Give it Up" for Blurred Lines, which was written and produced by Pharrell.

The court decided that Gaye's family should receive $4million in damages and $3.4 million in profits from the song, with Thicke forced to pay $1.7million from his own pocket and Pharrell $1.6million. T.I only rapped in the song so he wasn't involved in the lawsuit...

Pharrell and Robin Thicke in court yesterday. The singers attorney said the court's decision in favor of Gaye's family could affect musicians who try to emulate an era or another artist's sound.

Pharrell and Robin Thicke released a statement saying
"While we respect the judicial process, we are extremely disappointed in the ruling made today, which sets a horrible precedent for music and creativity going forward.
'Blurred Lines’ was created from the heart and minds of Pharrell, Robin and T.I. and not taken from anyone or anywhere else. We are reviewing the decision, considering our options and you will hear more from us soon about this matter.'
Pharrell and Thicke had filed a pre-emptive lawsuit against Marvin Gaye's estate back in August 2013 to prevent the estate from suing them for copyright infringement. They lost.
